Please understand when using this tool, as an herbalist, nutritionist, and holistic healthcare practitioner, many of the cautions appear daunting. 

I have safely used herbs and nutritional supplements of many kinds in many combinations with many people, many of whom have complicated health problems and are taking several medications.  These databases are based on current scientific studies, and in many cases these studies do not exist because there is no incentive for their funding.  These databases were originally developed to help inform mainstream medicine providers who are traditionally ignorant when it comes to nutrition and botanical medicine.  Use these as a guide, but please contact me personally if you have any concerns.  Competent and experienced practitioners are your best resource.  For heaven's sake, just looking up "acidophilus" could scare you off!  Still... very good and useful information in many ways. 

For each therapy covered by Natural Standard, a research team systematically gathers scientific data and expert opinions. Validated rating scales are used to evaluate the quality of available evidence. Information is incorporated into comprehensive monographs which are designed to facilitate clinical decision making. All monographs undergo blinded editorial and peer review prior to inclusion in Natural Standard databases.
